About Us

Helping Your Hospitality Business Put Your Best Foot Forward

For more than two decades, U.S. Hospitality has been a specialty publisher, exclusively for the hospitality industry. We believe that we’ve continued to grow and succeed because of three main things; Honesty, Fairness, and Quality.  In 2007 U.S. Hospitality has more than 2,500 hospitality publishing clients and an annual clientele of over 15,000 advertisers, making it an industry leader.

Our clients include some of the largest hotel chains in the world, local mom-and-pop restaurants, ritzy beach resorts, large suburban apartment complexes,  independent hotels/motels, visitor bureaus, condo/rental properties and many other hospitality venues.  We help our hospitality industry clients put their best-foot-forward with their respective customers: guests, visitors, residents, and patrons. We do that by producing informative, eye-catching publications that also attract business for local advertisers.  Our custom publications include, e.g. hotel/resort guest directories, keycards, TV Channel stands, menus, event/wedding planner guides, visitor guides, apartment/condo guides, etc.  – and now online products as well.

The U.S. Hospitality corporate office is located in Nashville, TN where we do virtually all of our print work in-house – giving us a lot more control over our products – and, we think, our clients a lot better end result than alternative “outsourced” options. With over 15,000 square feet, and not only offset but also digital 4-color printing capabilities, we produce thousands of publications each day for our clients. We’ve got more than 40 employees in Nashville and Shelby, NC and nearly 60 independent affiliate publishers (Affiliate Publishers), in local markets, nationwide. Many of those people have been with us for ten years or more, and they do a great job for U.S. Hospitality and our clients.

From some humble beginnings in 1986

Founded in 1986 by Mark Oldham and Sharon Oldham, U.S. Hospitality’s first office was operated from an out-of-order hotel room at the Regis Inn in Huntsville, Alabama. U.S. Hospitality moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1987 after the Regis Inn was sold, and that was a big year for U.S. Hospitality. We hired our first employee and bought our first real computer. Best of all we landed our first big account, Commercial Management Inc., based in Charlotte, North Carolina. CMI managed about 35 Days Inns at the time and began putting our products to the test. And Mark Oldham, the current President of U.S. Hospitality, began running the company on a full time basis.

Our sales and distribution increased so significantly ( a 1254% growth rate in five years!) that the hotel industry and business world began to take notice.  U.S. Hospitality’s accomplishments garnered recognition from INC. Magazine as one of America’s fastest growing privately-held companies in the 1990’s.

Hotel guest directories  -- and now a lot more

In its early years U.S. Hospitality focused primarily on hotel guest directories, with hotels choosing either our No Cost ad-sponsored program or our competitively priced Purchase program (without ads). This year Avendra, the large hospitality procurement company, approved U.S. Hospitality's cutting edge Rapid Proof guest directory information and proof delivery technology for its large client base. And so hotels and guest directories will always be an important part of our business.

But through the ongoing acquisition of complementary businesses (most recently, Davis & Associates, Leisure Host, First Hospitality, and Rockett Enterprises) and developing our own new print publications products in-house, we are now able to serve the full gamut of hospitality businesses and their publications needs. And we plan to continue offering new products in the future at No Cost or for purchase.

Plus online opportunities

In 1996, U. S. Hospitality developed onlinecityguide.com, one of the leading city guide sites on the Internet today, with comprehensive information on U.S. cities. Our independent reps sell 'web page ads' in the corresponding city and state to merchants and businesses on onlinecityguide.com. The web page ad (or WPA) is a way for the hospitality business and small business owner to expand their marketing base, and target the traveler who is planning his/her trip – in essence, searching for things to do and ways to spend money before arriving at his/her destination.

With the success of Onlinecityguide.com, U.S. Hospitality decided to expand its presence on the Internet and in 2004 purchased two reservation booking sites, TravelUSA.com and Hotel.US. These two successful sites our suite of travel communications products to include actual travel options and provide additional, affordable advertising options in today's fastest growing media outlet. In addition, U.S. Hospitality has partnered with Uniguest to offer business center service technology and self-service computer stations to the hospitality industry. Additionally U.S. Hospitality owns 51% of CityAmerica.com.

More innovation and the same mission

U.S. Hospitality has come a long way since that tiny hotel room in Huntsville more than 20 years ago. But we still cling fiercely to the same hunger for innovative ideas that started it all and are constantly looking to provide most comprehensive line of hospitality information products available, both print and online.  Our mission remains the same: to help hospitality businesses put their best-foot-forward with their respective customers: guests, visitors, residents, and patrons – by providing top quality print publications and online information.

Warm Regards,
Mark Oldham, President
